Fresh Start and new idea

Today, Edmonton experienced its first snow of the season. And by first snow, that means snow that is staying. Welcome winter. With the fresh fluffy white powder settling in, it seems like a great time for a fresh start and embarking on new things.

That means, keeping this space alive. Updating this space more. More experimenting, more sharing and more entertaining. I have goals and I have ideas that all revolve around this space. I’ve been afraid of pursuing them, because…of so many reasons. What if no one comes. What if it isn’t successful. Can I actually do this. I’ve dropped it so many times. Well the truth is, if I don’t try I’ll never know, and all those fears will be realized.

cookbooks

As you may know, or gathered, I LOVE cooking, baking and entertaining. And I love cookbooks. I LOVE reading, receiving and sharing cookbooks. I also love Food Network. So it only makes sense that I would love going to events that center around the culinary experience. Which makes sense why I enjoyed the Jasper Park Lodge’s annual Christmas in November. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to attend two years in the row. Sadly, this year I am experiencing major FOMO! And I think I have something to help fix part of my FOMO.

So here goes…

I am starting a monthly cookbook club! (CUE FEAR AND INTERNAL SCREAMING).

So what the heck is a Cookbook Club?
Typically, a cookbook club is a group of people gathering at someone’s home to share a variety of dishes potluck style. But I understand, that people are busy, and they may not want to purchase a cookbook for ONE recipe.

Cue my Cookbook Club. Once a month, I will invite guests to my house to enjoy recipes from a cookbook prepared by me. There will be a small fee, to cover food costs. The premise will be to enjoy good food, good company, conversations, drinks and a couple recipes to take home.

The recipes prepared will be of my choice, but there will be opportunities for guests vote on the book. They could be new, recently released books, or good old standbys.

The Cookbook Club is more than just a club, it is a space for people to gather, cultivate, relax, share and enjoy. So here goes….
